(LD) HEALY does not provide
dedicated or skilled operators for the ADCP systems.
Science parties planning to utilize the ADCP system
should address this in the cruise planning process and
shall plan to provide operator(s).
HEALY ADCP configuration
and operational update (July 2002) includes 75 kHz Ocean
surveryor.

Onboard is a 150 KHz broadband Acoustic Doppler Current
Profiler (ADCP) with its display in the Electronics/Computer
Lab. The system is configured to use either RD Instrument’s
Transect or VMDAS data acquisition software. Data
is logged on the SDN-server and is served up to the
website. The ADCP has heading information supplied
by the ship’s gyro. Heave, pitch, roll and GPS
are supplied by an Ashtech ADU2-3DGPS. Data collected
with Transect can only be accessed when the computer
is booted to Windows and then transferred to the SDN-server
computer. At this time ADCP data collected with Transect
is the only data that is supported by University of
Hawaii’s CODAS system. VMDAS is not supported
by University of Hawaii at the time of the creation
of this document.

During an emergency dry dock in February/March 2002
the 300 kHz transducer was replaced with a 75 kHz
ocean Surveyor. This system has been operationally
tested during the spring 2002 Shelf Basin Interaction
program. Click here for more information regarding
