Berthing arrangements will be made by the XO in close coordination with the
Chief Scientist. In general, the science party will be assigned to the two
04 science staterooms and the 02 level, with 10 more racks made available on
the 03 level as needed for a total of 50 racks. When the science party is
small, all efforts will be made to only assign two persons to the 02 level
rooms, but may have to be modified due to Coast Guard contractors and
training commitments. This will also be coordinated with the Chief
Scientist. The Chief Scientist's stateroom (Telephone ext. 402) is located
in Officer's Country (04-33-6-L), which also has an extra rack.
Additionally, there is a Senior Scientist Stateroom also in Officers country
that can accommodate up to three persons. Designated scientists staterooms
on the O-2 levels have associated bathrooms (known as heads). We ask that
science party members maintain the cleanliness of their berthing areas and
heads. Blankets and linen are provided. Members of the science party must
provide their own towels, soap, shampoo, etc. Approximately 24 cubic feet of
locker space is available for each science party member. You should bring
and use a padlock for valuables.)
