Although not technically UNOLS vessels, U.S. Coast Guard icebreakers utilize
the UNOLS ship time request forms. Principal Investigators are encouraged
to submit a form as early as possible in the planning process. Forms can be

The UNOLS Shiptime Request Form
An initial scheduling meeting is held in the fall of the prior year between
the Coast Guard and all sponsoring agencies to discuss the feasibility of
accomplishing the projects that have a funding commitment. The Coast
Guard's primary input is ensuring that the desired projects are feasible
purely from an operational standpoint.
